Aussies abroad: Leckie on target in Germany

Caltex Socceroos flyer Mat Leckie found the net in the Bundesliga overnight but it wasn’t enough as FC Ingolstadt went down 3-2 away to Bayer Leverkusen.

Leckie fired the visitors in the lead with a simple finish in just the 16th minute, with teammate Dario Lezcano cutting the ball back for the Aussie to fire into an empty net.

But the hosts levelled proceedings less than 15 minutes later through Charles Aranguiz before goals to Kevin Kampl and Stefan Kiessling put Leverkusen in control with 30 minutes to play.

Who will the Socceroos face against Hodgson's England?

The visitors pulled a goal back from the spot through Moritz Hartmann with 20 minutes remaining but they couldn’t find an equaliser to leave Ingolstadt in 11th spot to finish the Bundesliga campaign.

Elsewhere, Mitch Langerak started but could do little as VFB Stuttgart succumbed to a 3-1 loss away to Wolfsburg.

Mitch Langerak started in Stuttgart's 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund.

In China, Trent Sainsbury played a full match as Jiangsu Suning played out a 0-0 draw at home to Shíjiāzhuāng Yǒngchāng.

Aleksandar Jovanović  got through 90 minutes as Tianjin Teda were held to a scoreless draw away to Ryan McGowan’s Henan Jianye.
