Aussies Abroad: Amini’s AGF grab away goal in European play-off

There were two Caltex Socceroos due to be in action on Sunday morning (AEST) and in very different circumstances as the European season wound down.

In Germany Mat Leckie was not in the match day squad for Hertha Berlin’s last game of the Bundesliga season as they were thumped 5-1 in the German capital by Bayer Leverkusen.

A Lucas Aliro hat-trick lead the way for Leverkusen at the Olympiastadion as they secured a UEFA Champions League spot for next season, having finished the season in fine form with a run of 19 goals for and just four conceded in their final six games.

Hertha meanwhile finish comfortably mid-table in 11^th.

Elsewhere, Mustafa Amini’s AGF grabbed an away goal in their 2-1 loss at Randers in the Danish League's UEFA Europa League playoff.

An action-packed first half saw all three goals scored in just over half an hour, and Amini’s side will be hoping to take advantage of a noisy home crowd when they return for the second leg next Monday (2:00am, AEST).
