Aussies abroad: Sainsbury sent off, Ryan wins, Cahill loses
Trent Sainsbury was sensationally sent off, Tim Cahill tasted defeat while Mat Ryan’s Club Brugge moved a step closer to the Belgian title on a mixed night for Aussies overseas.
In the Netherlands, Sainsbury was involved in a scuffle early in the second half and the Socceroo defender saw red as PEC Zwolle went down 2-0 to relegation-threatened Heracles Almelo.
Luke Wilkshire was an unused substitute as Feyenoord were beaten 1-0 at home by Go Ahead Eagles while Tommy Oar and Michael Zullo weren’t in FC Utrecht’s squad.
