The CommBank Young Socceroos will kick off their AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualification phase campaign against Laos on Monday evening.
They will take on Laos, Malaysia and Indonesia as they seek to qualify for the tournament next month. If they top the group, they will qualify directly.
It is a fantastic opportunity for players to gain competitive experience at international level ahead of challenges to come.
The Squad
Head Coach Trevor Morgan finalised his 23-player squad last week, with a number of unavailabilities to contend with due to injury and duties at senior club level.
Eight A-League Men's clubs are represented as well as players who ply their trade in England, Italy and Japan.
“We’ve selected a squad we believe is well equipped for the challenges ahead, and we’re looking forward to bringing the players together and beginning our qualification campaign in Laos," Head Coach Trevor Morgan said.

The Opposition
Laos U20 are hoping to qualify and play in the AFC U20 Asian Cup for the first time since 2004. They last qualified in 2020, but that tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The majority of their squad are based in Laos. The exceptions are Matheo Ackhavong who plays in France, and Cy John Adams who is part of Heat FC in the United States.
They are coached by former Laos international Kanlaya Sysomvang. The 35-year-old scored five goals for the senior national team in his 22-game career and will be hoping to bring some of that attacking flair to his young side for this campaign.
The Aussies then take on Malaysia U20 before facing Indonesia U20 - who on paper at least are expected to provided the toughest test.
