Trevor Morgan's side continues their ASEAN U19 Boys' Championship 2026 campaign. The side kicked off their tournament with a 10-0 win over the Philippines, with Melbourne City's Medin Memeti scoring five in the game.

Australia rounded out Group C with a 2-2 draw with Cambodia, securing their place in the knockout stages of the tournament, going through as first in their group. An early goal from Marcus Neill and Alexandro Nunes saw the side take a 2-0 advantage into the break. Cambodia came out of the interval firing, clawing a goal back, before an own goal in the final minutes of the game saw Australia succumb to a point.

The CommBank Young Socceroos headed into the semi-final with a tough task, taking on the hosts, Indonesia, in front of a hostile home crowd. Marcus Neill scored his second goal of the tournament, finding the back of the net in the 89th minute to secure Australia's place in the final.

The two sides met in the 2024 edition of the tournament during the semi-finals, with Thailand edging past Australia 1-0 to book their place in the final, with Morgan's side looking to enact revenge on Saturday night.
