Subway Socceroos forward Craig Goodwin is returning to hometown club Adelaide United on a three-year contract.

A household name not just in South Australia but across the Isuzu UTE A-League, Goodwin returns to Coopers Stadium after two seasons in Saudi Arabia with Al-Wehda, where he scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists.
Now the Reds' all-time leading goal-scorer is back for a fourth stint at the club which he is so synonymous with, having enjoyed immense collective and individual success, registering 168 appearances and 60 goals.
The 33-year-old played key roles in the A-League Premiership and Championship double in 2016, and Australia Cup triumph in 2018 - scoring a match-winning brace against Sydney FC - and boasts three Aurelio Vidmar Medals and the Johnny Warren Medal for an outstanding 2022/23 season.
Following a second spell in the Saudi Pro League, the Adelaide fan favourite has decided to link up again with the side where he has created history and achieved legend status.
Goodwin first joined United in 2014 from Newcastle Jets, winning silverware in his second season, before securing a move to the Eredivisie with Dutch outfit Sparta Rotterdam.
The South Australian returned in 2018 following two years away and, after a productive 2018/19 campaign, earned Goodwin a transfer to Saudi Arabia with Al-Wehda before a short loan to Abha.
He rejoined Adelaide on loan in February 2021 for 18 months before signing a permanent deal in July 2022 and would arguably go on to experience his best season to date, where his scintillating form coincided with selection to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and domestically, later winning the coveted Johnny Warren Medal.
The Socceroo, who has 31 caps and seven goals for his country, scored against France at the FIFA World Cup™ in Qatar and found the back of the net on two occasions at the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™.
Speaking about his decision to return to the club, Goodwin said in a club statement: "I’m just really excited to be back home at the club I love the most. There’s still unfinished business – I want to win another Championship, and another Australia Cup here.
“Nothing means more to me than bringing success to Adelaide United. Playing in front of a packed-out Coopers Stadium has always meant the world to me, and I’ll give everything I have to deliver silverware again."
Adelaide United Head of Football, Marius Zanin, added: “It’s fantastic to welcome Craig back home. He knows the Adelaide United DNA inside and out and will immediately be a leader both on and off the pitch.
"Craig is a true great of our Club, and having him back with us is a huge moment for everyone involved – our players, our staff, and most importantly, our fans."
