CommBank Socceroos Head Coach Tony Popovic has made eight changes to his squad for the October FIFA International Window, as he continues to cast the net far and wide.
The CommBank Socceroos face 2026 FIFA World Cup hosts Canada (Montreal, October 11 AEDT) and the United States (Colorado, October 15 AEDT).
Keeper Mat Ryan is recalled, having joined Spanish top-flight club Levante UD since his last Socceroos appearance.
Jason Geria (Albirex Niigata), Daniel Arzani (Ferencvaros) and Mitch Duke (Machida Zelvia) return for the first time since contributing to the Socceroos’ direct World Cup qualification last June.
Nicholas D’Agostino (Viking FK) and Cameron Devlin (Hearts) are named for the first time since Popovic took charge in 2024, while Fran Karacic (Hajduk Split) is recalled after being ruled out of the September international window due to injury.
Alex Robertson (Cardiff City) is called up for the first time since October 2023.
Popovic, unbeaten in 10 Socceroos matches, said he was excited to get an early taste of the 2026 FIFA World Cup by facing two of the host nations on their home soil.
“The September window was a good step forward for us. We want to keep building continuity and momentum towards the World Cup, a process that began last October,” Popovic said.
“It’s a privilege to face two World Cup hosts in Canada and the USA, both quality opposition. This will give us a taste of what to expect at next year’s tournament - one of the advantages of qualifying directly.
“Our focus remains on preparing diligently for the World Cup. Every window and each match provides an opportunity to challenge ourselves as we strive to make an impact on the world stage.”
The FIFA World Cup draw takes place on December 5 in Washington DC.
