Football Australia to host FIFA Series 2026™ during March International Window

Football Australia is excited to welcome the FIFA Series 2026™ to Australia during the men’s March international window, which will act as critical preparation for the CommBank Socceroos' FIFA World Cup 2026™ campaign.

The two-game, four-team series will act as a final hit out on home soil before the CommBank Socceroos head to the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and is the last chance for fans to support the team in Australia before the Finals.

It will involve four teams in a two-match double-header format that will see the CommBank Socceroos face two different opponents while also give football fans in Australia the chance to see international football from countries outside of the CommBank Socceroos.

The FIFA Series™ offers national teams from different continents a unique platform to compete with teams beyond their traditional confederations, with the 2026 edition building on the success of the inaugural FIFA Series™ in 2024.

The two double headers in March mark FIFA’s first full-scale implementation of this initiative, which is set to feature more Participating Member Associations, designed to facilitate more meaningful international matches and contribute directly to global football development.

As a part of FIFA’s Strategic Objectives for the Global Game: 2023-2027, the FIFA Series™ focuses on creating more opportunities for competitive balance and cross-continent opposition.

Quotes attributed to Football Australia Interim CEO Heather Garriock:

“We are delighted to host the FIFA Series 2026™ in Australia and provide the CommBank Socceroos with valuable opportunities to compete against high-quality opposition from outside our confederation.

“These matches will play an essential role in preparing the CommBank Socceroos for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026™ whilst also strengthening our international competitiveness as a whole.

“We are also extremely excited to give Australian football fans not only a last chance to see the CommBank Socceroos before the FIFA World Cup 2026™ but also experience two other international sides go head-to-head immediately before. It is a huge opportunity to pack more football into an international break than ever before in Australia.

“The FIFA Series™ aligns closely with our strategic vision for Australian football as it gives our players exposure to diverse playing styles, creates meaningful international match minutes, and supports our broader ambition to elevate the CommBank Socceroos on the global stage.

“We thank FIFA for their partnership and their commitment to expanding cross-confederation football. Hosting the FIFA Series 2026™ is a significant moment for the game in Australia, and we look forward to welcoming participating nations and delivering a world-class football experience in March.”
