Harry Souttar has completed a season-long loan to Championship side Sheffield United from Leicester City.
The 25-year-old defender was in search of regular playing time after falling out of favour at the Foxes - limited to just four appearances in all competitions under then boss Enzo Maresca last season - and will now call Bramall Lane home for 2024/25.
Following a sensational FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, where he started and played every minute of the Subway Socceroos' most successful appearance at the tournament, Souttar sealed a dream move to the Premier League with Leicester from Stoke City after amassing 70 games for the Potters.
The imposing centre-back played 12 games in the English top flight but the Foxes would subsequently be relegated and saw the departure of Brendan Rodgers.
Despite a lack of consistent minutes, Souttar continued to perform admirably for his adopted country where he currently boasts a staggering 11 goals in 30 caps.
Souttar will now aim to get his club career up and running again after agreeing to join the Blades ahead of the impending season and bolsters Chris Wilder's defensive stocks.
Upon joining the South Yorkshire side, Souttar said in a club statement: "I knew that it might be on for a couple of weeks, but over the weekend I was waiting on the phone call telling me to come up to Sheffield. I can't wait to get started.
"The club speaks for itself. I don't need to tell anyone how big the club is. As soon as I found out I was available and the club was looking at me, it was a no brainer to come here.
"I spoke to the gaffer a few times, but he didn't have to sell the club to me at all. I've known some of the lads here and know about the club's ethos and vision. I feel this will be a great partnership at this stage of my career and I am raring to go.
"I can't wait to get working under him and his staff and seeing the squad they have built this pre-season; it is looking really exciting."
Blades boss Wilder was delighted to secure his services, adding: "Getting someone of Harry's calibre and experience is a huge plus, and he'll add some steel to our defensive unit.
"His height and power are exactly what we've been looking for since we lost a couple of experienced heads.
"Harry's still only 25 but he's been around a long time. He can handle the highest of levels as shown with his appearances for Australia, and again he's someone who knows this division and what is needed to be successful in it."
Souttar could make his debut for SUFC when they take on Preston North End on Saturday morning at 5:00am AEST.
