CommBank Socceroos forward Nestory Irankunda said that he was ready to "do something special" with the team as they prepare to take on Brazil in a two-game series in Queensland.
The Sporting CP attacker also revealed to media on Wednesday of his goals for the season with the Portuguese outfit and his mentality after a whirlwind few years.
Being back in camp
It's something that I've been looking forward to. Just super happy to be with the boys again and ready to do something special again.
The World Cup was something huge for me and also for the country. To be a part of that and to do what we've done at the World Cup, it was a great feeling and it was great memories created as well. And the life at my new club [Sporting CP] now is also great - great club, top club and a lot of history. So I'm really happy to be there.
Adjusting to life at Sporting
[I am hoping to achieve] whatever's possible [this season]. Winning trophies, getting a lot of goals and assists and just doing well for the national team as well.
We're the biggest club in Portugal. It's normal, it's in every league as well. There's always the top teams and I feel like we are the top team in that league so it feels good to be a part of that.
It's been a short career so far. Things have happened so quick, but there's been some challenges along the way, and to get here wasn't easy. I just have to do everything in my abilities to stay here. I can't just stop doing what I'm doing now, and then people forget about me. So I want to be remembered, and I want to stay here with the Socceroos and keep doing well.
Professional mentality
You've just got to do the right things. What time you sleep and what you eat, your recovery and all that stuff. And even the things on the training ground. You have to take every training session like it matters. You have to treat it like a game. So for me to get in positions to score goals, I have to do it in the training session first to then put it out on the field when it comes game day. So, it's something that I've been working on. And you have to also have that mindset and stay professional. And that's what I try to do.
Youthful squad
The teams before us were also good teams as well. But next few years, it's going to be a really young squad. There's a lot of young players in the team now, including myself and Lucas [Herrington]. It's good to see. It shows that we've got talent and it shows that we can actually play football.
Taking on Brazil
It's something different. You're playing against one of the best national teams in the world and you're playing against the best players. So it will help us. It will help us and it's a good experience for the whole group. It will be a challenge, obviously. It will be a difficult two games, but we will try to give it our best.
Playing in front of home fans
I want the fans to come and support us and not just be there to see the Brazilian players but to see us as well because I feel like we've done all we could at the World Cup and I feel like we've done something great.
I haven't seen much of Townsville and haven't heard much of Townsville, but at the end of the day, it's Australia and probably the best country in the world. So hopefully a lot of people come out to support us.
