Subway Socceroos defender Kye Rowles has signed with Major League Soccer (MLS) side DC United from Scottish club Heart of Midlothian for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

Rowles has agreed to a two-year contract through 2026 with an option for the 2027 campaign.
The 26-year-old makes the move across the Atlantic after two-and-a-half seasons with the Edinburgh-based outfit where he established himself as a regular and accumulated 103 appearances and scored one goal.
The former Central Coast Mariner will now ply his trade in Washington, D.C. with the four-time MLS Cup champions, four-time Supporters' Shield winners, and three-time winners of the U.S. Open Cup.
Rowles has 24 caps for the national team and has appeared at one FIFA World Cup and an AFC Asian Cup.
Ally Mackay, DC United General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer, said in a statement on the club's official website: "We are getting a highly experienced center back in Kye [Rowles] and we’re looking forward to integrating him with the team ahead of the start of preseason."
"He has played the last three seasons in the Scottish Premiership and has been a pillar for the Australian National Team since 2022.
"Kye is a leader on the field who has good defensive instincts and the ability to play out from the back. We believe he will fit in well to Troy’s system and we’re excited to welcome him to the District.”
The centre-back becomes the third Australian international to represent DC United after Daniel Allsopp and Brad Smith.
The Black-and-Red Eagles kick-off their season at home to Toronto FC on Sunday, 23 February at 11:30am AEDT.
