It means the 24-year-old’s deal will now expire at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

Miller joined Hibs in the summer of 2022 and has subsequently accumulated 83 appearances for the Scottish outfit.

His strong performances also caught the attention of the Australia men's national team, making his debut as a substitute against England at Wembley Stadium in October 2023.

Miller, known for his dynamism and dogged work rate, has amassed 12 caps for his country, establishing himself as a regular under Tony Popovic's reign.

The defender has also scored two goals in the process - which included finding the back of the net against Indonesia in the recent March window.

In 37 appearances in all competitions for the Edinburgh club this season, the versatile full-back come right-side centre-back has scored three goals and registered three assists.

Hibernian FC Head Coach David Gray said little thought was needed to trigger Miller's contract extension in a statement on the club's official website.

"This decision makes complete sense. Lewis has been working really hard on his game, he’s a very coachable player, and he’s seen the rewards from that so far this season.

"He has shown with his performances for us, and on the international stage, that he’s developing as a player.

"He’s a good character and is keen to constantly progress. We look forward to continuing our journey together."

Hibernian FC Sporting Director Malky Mackay went on to add: "Lewis is a good player, great person, and a valuable asset for the Football Club, which is why triggering his contract extension is important for us.

"He has performed well for us and his National Team, and has a number of attributes that make him well-suited to the modern game.

"Lewis’ sole focus will now be on continuing his excellent run of form as we enter an exciting time of the season."
