Former Celtic star Scott McDonald has signed with Millwall after leaving fellow Championship side Middlesborough on a free transfer.

It was reported that Middlesborough were keen to get McDonald-s near $50 000 a week wage off their books and agreed to pay out his the final year of the 29-year-old-s contract.

Having recently taking over from Kenny Jackett, new manager Steve Lomas moved quickly to sign the Socceroo after being impressed by his 13-goal season for Middlesborough last season.

Millwall made the semi-finals of the FA Cup last season and despite a 13 game unbeaten streak in the early part of the league season the side from south London flirted with relegation finishing just two points above the drop zone.

New manager Steve Lomas moved quickly to sign the Socceroo after taking over from Kenny Jackett after being impressed by his 13-goal season for Middlesborough last season.

McDonald said that the move was a simple one after seeing his new club-s desperation to bring him into the ranks.

He will now look to pile on the goals in the Championship and put his name in the mix for Socceroos selection for the 2014 World Cup.
