Following a breakout FIFA World Cup™ 2026 campaign, CommBank Socceroos goalkeeper Patrick Beach is heading to one of Europe's top five leagues.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper has signed a five-year contract until June 2031 with Ligue 1 outfit Troyes from Melbourne City for an undisclosed fee.
The French club, also owned by the City Football Group, were recently promoted to the top flight after finishing the 2025/26 Ligue 2 season in first place.
Beach had spent the previous three years at City, establishing himself as the undisputed number one over the past two seasons before making his Socceroos debut against Venezuela in November 2025.
For the City Blues, he accumulated 64 appearances and 24 clean sheets in all competitions and won the A-Leagues Championship in 2024/25, starting every game.
With just two caps to his name before the FIFA World Cup™, boss Tony Popovic entrusted the young gloveman to be Australia's starting 'keeper and he repaid the faith - starting all four matches and keeping two clean sheets.
Demonstrating maturity and experience beyond his years throughout the campaign, Beach's most memorable performance occurred in the 2-0 win over Türkiye, producing an impressive eight saves on his FIFA World Cup™ debut - the most since Rüştü Reçber against Brazil in 2002.
The 22-year-old is the second Aussie to make a move following the major tournament after Cameron Devlin joined Rangers from Hearts.
Beach, who has six Socceroos appearances, is the first Australian player to represent Troyes since Nick Carle in 2001/02, while former Socceroo and City head coach Patrick Kisnorbo spent a year at the helm from November 2022 to November 2023.
Beach is set to join a number of Socceroos who have played in the French top division including Maty Ryan, Mohamed Toure, Denis Genreau Mile Sterjovski, Ned Zelic, Robbie Slater and Frank Farina.
