Subway Socceroos’ Head Coach Tony Popovic has made a further appointment to his coaching and support staff, with Leigh Egger joining as Physical Performance Lead.
Egger returns to Australia following five years with Feyenoord Rotterdam (Holland), where he was the Head of High Performance since 2021.
In addition to his renowned work with the European Giants and former coach Arne Slot, Egger has conducted specialist consultancy work with Charlotte Hornets (NBA), Rugby Australia (Wallabies), Fiji Rugby, and the Sydney Swans.
Originally from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Egger will bring European experience and cutting-edge physical performance practices to the Subway Socceroos. His expertise will be crucial in optimising player performance and implementing effective athletic development strategies for the players.
Egger commenced with Football Australia ahead of October’s AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to 26 fixtures against China PR and Japan.
