Subway Socceroos midfielder Riley McGree has put pen-to-paper on a new four-year contract extension with Middlesbrough, the club announced.
The 25-year-old's existing deal was set to expire at the conclusion of the upcoming 2024/25 season but has now committed his future to the Riverside Stadium until June 2028.
It is a massive coup for the club, who remain determined to push for Premier League promotion.
McGree joined the Teesside outfit in January 2022 from Charlotte FC after impressive performances while on loan at Birmingham City and has since flourished under Michael Carrick's tutelage.
McGree, who has 25 caps and one goal for his country, has accumulated a total of 82 appearances and scored 14 goals for Boro since his arrival and remains an integral piece for Carrick.
Despite experiencing an interrupted campaign in 2023/24, the former Adelaide United man still managed six goals and three assists in 25 matches across the EFL Championship and cup competitions.
The Boro boss was thrilled to see his attacking player pledge his future with MFC.
"Riley is an important part of our squad. He's a a good lad and he has a great attitude," Carrick said in a club statement.
"We're all about building things here, and this is further demonstration of that."
Middlesbrough begin their season at home to Swansea on Saturday, 10 August at 9:30pm AEST.
