Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has inked a one-year contract extension with Premier League club Fulham.

The deal means the 39-year-old, regarded as one of the most consistent shot-stoppers in the EPL will play well into his 40s, in one of the best football competitions in the world.

Fulham said on Wednesday that the 39-year-old Schwarzer will remain at Craven Cottage "until at least the summer of 2013", extending his stay at the southwest London club to five years.

Schwarzer who is currently out of action with a spinal injury but wants to keep playing through to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Prior to joining Fulham Schwarzer played for Middlesbrough and just last summer was a key target of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, as he sought a replacement for the unreliable Manuel Almunia.
