Socceroos Abroad: Aussie transfers, Genreau scores and more English cup action

There was further midweek action for our Subway Socceroos abroad this week in Europe's competitions and some more transfer activity as well.

There is set to be plenty more involvement for our Subway Socceroos over the weekend, so here is a look at what is to come. 

Subway Socceroos

We start with some transfer news where Kye Rowles (cap #622) has moved from Hearts to Major League Soccer outfit D.C. United. The defender heads Stateside for an undisclosed fee on a two-year contract through to 2026, with an option for 2027.

 

Furthermore, Middlesbrough's Samuel Silvera (cap #634) has signed with EFL League One side Blackpool on loan for the rest of the season. Silvera spent the first half of the season on loan at Portsmouth. Blackpool host Huddersfield on Saturday at 11:30 pm (AEDT).

 


In the Coupe De France, Denis Genreau (cap #610) made further strides in building his fitness, opening the scoring for Toulouse in his second start in the competition as they prevailed 2-1 over Laval. Genreau will push for more minutes on Sunday at 7:05am (AEDT) in Ligue 1 against Lyon.

 


In the EFL Trophy, Gethin Jones (cap #639) played a full game for Bolton Wanderers in their 1-0 win over Lincoln on Wednesday. Jones may feature against Cambridge at 2:00am (AEDT) in EFL League One.

Also in League One, Keanu Baccus (cap #628) could play on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT) against Wycombe Wanderers. Baccus was subbed on in the 68th minute of Mansfield Town’s 2-0 loss to Wigan Athletic on Wednesday in England’s FA Cup.

In more FA Cup action, Callum Elder (cap #614) was introduced at half-time as Derby County went out on penalties to Leyton Orient following a 1-1 draw. Elder missed Derby’s fifth penalty. The full-back could start on Sunday at 2:00 am (AEDT) against Watford in the EFL Championship. 

Alex Robertson (cap #630) was subbed off in the 88th minute of Cardiff City’s 1-1 draw with Watford on Wednesday in the EFL Championship.

Massimo Luongo (cap #571) was on the bench for Ipswich Town's 2-0 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday in the English Premier League. Luongo and Cameron Burgess (cap #633) could feature on Monday at 3:30am (AEDT) against Manchester City.

Also in England’s top flight, Joe Gauci (cap #631) was on the bench for Aston Villa’s 1-0 win over Everton on Thursday. The goalkeeper might make the bench on Sunday at 4:30am (AEDT) against Arsenal. 

Jackson Irvine (cap #568) played all of St. Pauli’s 1-0 loss to Bochum in the Bundesliga on Thursday morning. Irvine is likely to start again on Sunday at 1:30am (AEDT) against FC Heidenheim.

Ryan McGowan (cap #546) played a full game for Livingston as they beat Airdrieonians 2-1 on Wednesday morning in the Scottish Championship. McGowan could start again on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT) against Josh Nisbet’s (cap #642) Ross County in the Scottish Cup.

In the Thai League, Kenny Dougall (cap #608) played all of Buriram United’s 8-0 win over Chiangrai United on Wedesday night. Dougall could feature again on Sunday at 10:00pm (AEDT) when United host Khon Kaen United who are currently bottom of the Thai League.

Bailey Wright (cap #576) played a full game for Lion City Sailors as they downed Brunei DPMM 4-2 on Monday night in the Singapore Premier League. The result moves the side back to the top of the table with two games in hand.

The defender is likely to feature again on Friday at 10:45pm (AEDT) against Singapore’s Albirex Niigata. 

Elsewhere in the EFL Championship, Riley McGree (cap #609) and Tom Glover could start for Middlesbrough when they travel to Portsmouth on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT).

In the Scottish Cup, Cameron Devlin (cap #625) could be in action for Hearts when they travel to Brechin City on Saturday at 6:45am (AEDT).

Also, Martin Boyle (cap #599) and Lewis Miller (cap #635) should play in the Scottish Cup when Hibernian host Clydebank on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT).

In Serie A, Mathew Ryan (cap #555) should be in the matchday squad for Roma when they host Genoa on Saturday at 6:45am (AEDT).

In Saudi Pro League, Craig Goodwin (cap #562) is set to start for Al-Wehda as they take on Al Qadasiya on Saturday at 2:40am (AEDT).

Max Balard might start for NAC Breda as they host FC Twente on Sunday at 10:15pm (AEDT) in Eredivisie. 

In the Belgian First Division A, Jordan Bos (cap #632) could start for Westerlo when they travel to Royal Antwerp on Monday at 5:15am (AEDT).

Also in the competition, Aiden O’Neill (cap #629) should start for Standard Liege in their away match against St. Truiden on Monday at 4:30am (AEDT).

In the Indian Super League, Dimitri Petratos (cap #593), Jamie Maclaren (cap #584) and Jason Cummings (cap #626) are set to be involved for Mohun Bagan SG when they face Jamshedpur on Saturday at 1:00am (AEDT).

Cameron Peupion equalised for Brighton and Hove Albion Academy in their 2-1 loss to Manchester City Academy on Monday morning.

Nectarios Triantis might start when Hibernian face Clydebank in the Scottish Cup on Sunday at 2:00am (AEDT).
