Socceroos Abroad: Bos scores, Ryan and Circati seal first clean sheets

Jordan Bos continued his goalscoring form in the Eredivisie, and Alessandro Circati helped Parma to their first clean sheet of the season, highlighting another strong weekend for Socceroos Abroad.

In the Netherlands, Jordan Bos (cap #632) played a full game and continued his strong form under Robin van Persie, scoring Feyenoord’s second goal as they returned to action on Monday with a 3-3 draw against AZ Alkmaar. 

The 22-year-old has now recorded two goals and an assist across his past three Eredivisie matches.

Meanwhile, Max Balard (cap #652) played another full game on Sunday as NAC Breda beat Ajdin Hrustic's (cap #589) Heracles Almelo 2-1. Hrustic also played the full 90.

Elsewhere in the Netherlands, Josh Nisbet (#642) also played a full game for Roda JC Kerkrade in their 4-1 Eerste Divisie loss to RKC Waalwijk on Saturday.

In Italy's Serie A, Alessandro Circati (cap #637) played the full 90 minutes as Parma earned their first clean sheet of the 2025/26 season in a 0-0 draw away to US Cremonese on Sunday. 

The 21-year-old has now helped his side to two points from their opening four matches in their return to the top flight. Circati completed 92% of his passes while making two interceptions and three clearances.


In Spain, where Socceroos captain Maty Ryan (cap #555) was in goal again and picked up his first clean sheet in Levante colours during a 4-0 win over Girona FC on Saturday.

It was the 33-year-old’s third match for his new club, with Ryan playing the full 90 minutes as Levante secured an emphatic La Liga away victory.


In England, Cameron Burgess (cap #633) played another full game for Swansea City on Saturday in a 1-0 loss to Birmingham City in the Championship. 

Elsewhere, Lewis Miller (cap #635) started for Blackburn Rovers in their Championship clash with Ipswich Town, which was abandoned 10 minutes from time due to heavy rain at Ewood Park on Sunday.

Todd Cantwell’s second-half penalty had given Rovers the lead shortly after Ipswich’s Jacob Greaves was sent off, but worsening conditions saw referee Steve Martin call the players from the pitch before the match was eventually abandoned. With the waterlogged pitch heavily affecting play, the EFL board will now decide whether the fixture is to be replayed in full.

Hayden Matthews (cap #648) came on in the 52nd minute for Portsmouth and produced a solid performance as they lost 2-0 to Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday. Recent call-up Adrian Segecic also started and played 67 minutes. 

Sam Silvera (cap #634) came off the bench in the 42nd minute as Middlesbrough's brilliant start to the season continued on Saturday as they beat West Brom 2-1 to stay top of the Championship.

Making a bit of history along the way as they became the first Boro side to win five of their opening six games of a season.

Callum Elder (cap #614) also played the first half for Derby County on Sunday in a 1-0 loss to Preston.

Also in England, Joe Gauci (cap #631) was in goal in EFL League One as Port Vale beat Mansfield Town 2-1 on Sunday.

Over to Germany, where Connor Metcalfe's (cap #611) came off the bench in the 74th minute as St Pauli suffered their first loss of the Bundesliga season with a 2-0 defeat to VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.

In the Belgian Pro League, Ryan Teague (cap #649)  was an unused substitute for KV Mechelen in a 0-0 draw with Cercle Brugge KSV on Monday.

In Croatia, Fran Karacic (cap #607) was an unused substitute for Hajduk Split, while recent call-up Anthony Kalik came off the bench in the 86th minute as they lost 2-0 to GNK Dinamo Zagreb in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.

In Serbia, Milos Degenek (cap #585) played another full game on Monday as TSC Backa Topola lost 4-2 to FK Čukarički in the Super Liga.

In the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, Martin Boyle (cap #599) played 82 minutes for Hibernian on Sunday in a 2-0 loss to Rangers. Recent call-up Jack Iredale was an unused substitute. 

Elsewhere in the cup, new Commbank Socceroo Nicolas Milanovic (cap #651) was an unused substitute in Aberdeen’s 1-0 defeat to Apostolos Stamatelopoulos’ (cap #644) Motherwell on Sunday.

Stamatelopoulos started and played the full 90 minutes as Motherwell continued their push for a second League Cup title, and their first since the 1950–51 season.

Elsewhere in the cup, Keanu Baccus (cap #628) played 89 minutes for St. Mirren on Saturday as they edged past Kilmarnock at Rugby Park to book a semi-final berth.

The result confirmed a long-awaited return to Hampden for the Paisley side, their first since the 2021 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to St Johnstone.

After the match finished 2-2 following extra time, St Mirren held their nerve in the shootout, converting all their penalties before Michael Dijksteel sealed the win after Kyle Magennis missed for Kilmarnock.

In the MLS, Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) played the first half for Nashville in a 3-2 loss to Orlando City SC on Sunday.

Aiden O'Neill (cap #629) also came off the bench in the 72nd minute in the MLS on Sunday in a 2-0 win over Charlotte FC.

Elsewhere in MLS, Kye Rowles (cap #622) played another full game for DC United in a 3-2 loss to Lionel Messi's Inter Miami on Sunday.


Back to Europe, where recent call-up Noah Botic came off the bench in the 66th minute for Austria Wien FC on Sunday in the Austrian Bundesliga as they beat SV Ried 3-2.

Elsewhere in Austria, Marco Tilio (cap #616) came off the bench in the 68th minute for Rapid Wien as they returned to league action on Monday with a 1-1 draw against Grazer AK.

In injury news, Thomas Waddingham has been ruled out for the foreseeable future after suffering a thigh tear in training for Portsmouth. The injury could see him miss up to 12 weeks. 

In the MLS, Giuseppe Bovalina came on in the 92nd minute for the Vancouver Whitecaps in a 2-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on Sunday.
