Socceroos Abroad: Boyle on target in Scotland, Toure could make debut in England

Martin Boyle scored his ninth goal of the season during the week in Scotland, among a host of other Socceroos playing midweek games.

Looking to this weekend, Mohamed Toure could make his debut in the EFL Championship, with games continuing to come quickly in Europe.

Some Socceroos were involved in midweek fixtures in the Scottish Premiership.

Martin Boyle (cap #599) scored the opening goal for Hibernian, playing 73 minutes in a 3-2 win against Dundee United on Thursday morning. November window call-up Jack Iredale played a full game for Hibs in defence. Ryan Strain (cap #624) was on the bench for Dundee United.

Ryan McGowan (cap #546) picked up an assist for Livingston in their 2-1 loss to Falkirk on Thursday morning as well.

Moving to the EFL Championship, Mohamed Toure (cap #636) could make his debut for Norwich City at home to Lewis Miller’s (cap #635) Blackburn Rovers on Saturday at 11:30 pm (AEDT). The pair made their Socceroos debuts together in 2023 against England at Wembley Stadium.

At the same time, Callum Elder (cap #614) should start for Derby County at home to Ipswich Town.

Cameron Burgess (cap #633) is set to start on Sunday at 11:00 pm (AEDT) when Swansea City host Sheffield Wednesday.

Adrian Segecic should be involved as Portsmouth travel to Preston North End on Sunday at 2:00 am (AEDT).

Joe Gauci (cap #631) was the goalkeeper for Port Vale’s 1-0 loss to Wimbledon on Wednesday morning. Gauci could be in goal on Saturday at 11:30 pm (AEDT) against Burton Albion.

Elsewhere in the competition, Alex Robertson (cap #630) is likely to start on Sunday at 2:00 am (AEST) when his Cardiff City travel to Rotherham.

In Germany, Jackson Irvine (cap #568) was subbed on in the 68th minute of St. Pauli’s 3-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday morning. The midfielder could start at 1:30 am (AEDT) on Sunday against VfB Stuttgart back in the Bundesliga.

Milos Degenek (cap #585) could start for APOEL on Monday at 1:00 am (AEDT) against AEK Larnaca in Cyprus.

In La Liga, Maty Ryan (cap #555) should be in goal for Levante as they take on Athletic Club away from home on Monday at 2:15 am (AEDT).

Alessandro Circati (cap #637) is likely to start on Sunday at 10:30 pm (AEDT) when Parma travel to Bologna in Serie A.

In the Eredivisie, Jordy Bos (cap #632) could start for Feyenoord against Utrecht on Sunday at 10:15 pm (AEDT).

Ajdin Hrustic (cap #589) could also earn a start for Heracles away to NEC Nijmegen on Sunday at 2:30 am (AEDT).

Max Balard (cap #652) could feature for NAC Breda at home to Excelsior Rotterdam on Saturday at 6:00 am (AEDT).

Paul Izzo (cap #650) should be in goal for Randers as they resume their Danish Superligaen season away to Brondby on Monday at 4:00 am (AEDT).

Moving to Croatia, Fran Karacic (cap #607) is set to start for Osijek against Varazdin on Monday at 1:00 am (AEDT).

In Czech First League, Garang Kuol (cap #627) could get some minutes for Sparta Prague as they take on Zlin on Monday at 1:30 am (AEDT).

Marco Tilio (cap #616) might feature for Rapid Wien when they host Hartberg on Sunday at 3:00 am (AEDT).

Josh Nisbet (#642) is likely to start for Roda JC Kerkrade at home to ADO Den Haag on Saturday at 6:00 am (AEDT).

In Spain's La Liga 2, Awer Mabil (cap #597) might be involved for Castellon away to Real Valladolid on Monday at 12:00 am (AEDT).

In EFL League Two, Gethin Jones (cap #639) could start for MK Dons when they travel to Cheltenham on Sunday at 2:00 am (AEDT). 

Back in Scotland, Apostolos Stamatelopoulos (cap #644) could feature for Motherwell against Nicolas Milanovic's (cap #651) Aberdeen on Sunday at 6:30 am (AEDT). 

In Singapore, Bailey Wright (cap #576) could be in action for Lion City Sailors as they take on Young Lions on Sunday at 10:30 pm (AEDT).

Over in the Saudi First Division, Connor Pain (cap #565) played a full game for Al Bukayriyah in a 1-1 draw with Al-Ried on Monday night.
