Socceroos Abroad: Goodwin and Irankunda notch assists

There were plenty of goal contributions for our Subway Socceroos across Europe over the weekend, as several Aussies abroad continued their strong form.

Here is a look at all the performers and how they fared. 

Subway Socceroos

Craig Goodwin (cap #562) played a full game and picked up another assist for Al-Wehda as they lost 4-2 to Al Orobah on Saturday morning in Saudi Pro League. The winger now has six assists to go along with five goals.

Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) notched another assist before being taken off with an injury in the 36th minute of Grasshopper’s 1-1 draw with Lugano on Sunday in the Swiss Super League.

 


In the English FA Cup, Cameron Burgess (cap #633) played a full game for Ipswich Town as they beat Coventry City 4-1 on Sunday. Massimo Luongo (cap #571) was subbed on in the 68th minute for The Tractor Boys.

Jackson Irvine (cap #568) played the entirety of St. Pauli's 2-0 loss to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. The Hamburg-based club endured their first defeat in four matches and are seven points clear of the relegation playoff spot.

In the EFL Championship, Hayden Matthews (cap #648) was subbed on in the 81st minute of Portsmouth’s 2-1 loss to Sheffield United on Sunday.

Also in England’s second tier, Callum Elder (cap #614) came off the bench in the 66th minute for Derby County in their 1-1 draw with Norwich City on Sunday.

In EFL League One, Sam Silvera (cap #634) assisted Blackpool’s stoppage-time equaliser as they drew 1-1 with Burton Albion on Sunday.

 


Also, Keanu Baccus (cap #628) played 74 minutes of Mansfield Town’s 1-0 loss to Northampton Town on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the competition, Joe Gauci (cap #631) was in net for Barnsley’s 2-1 loss to Stockport County on Saturday night.

Finally, Gethin Jones (cap #639) played from the 69th minute of Bolton Wanderers’ 4-3 win over Crawley Town on Sunday.

Moving to Italy and Ajdin Hrustic (cap #589) came on in the 83rd minute of Salernitana’s 0-0 draw with Brescia on Saturday morning in Serie B. 

In the Belgian Pro League, Aiden O'Neill (cap #629) came on at half-time of Standard Liege's 4-2 loss to Westerlo on Monday. Jordan Bos (cap #632) was subbed off in the 24th minute for Westerlo after picking up a knock. 

Martin Boyle (cap #599) played a full game for Hibernian in their 1-0 win over Ayr United in the Scottish FA Cup on Saturday.

Ryan McGowan (cap #546) scored in his full game for Livingston as the side beat Cove Rangers 3-0 in the same competition on Sunday. Another Aussie, Tete Yengi, grabbed the other two goals for Livingston.

 


Elsewhere in the Cup, Dylan McGowan (cap #590) played a full game for Hamilton Academical as they lost 1-0 to St Johnstone on Sunday.

In the Singapore Premier League, Bailey Wright (cap #576) scored for Lion City Sailors in their 4-1 win over Tanjong Pagar United on Sunday. The side sit six points clear at the top of the competition.

In Croatia's HNL, Fran Karacic (cap #607) got an assist in his full game for NK Lokomotiva as they lost 2-1 to Slaven on Monday. 

In Spain’s Segunda Division, Awer Mabil (cap #597) was on the bench for Castellon’s 3-1 win over Racing de Ferrol on Sunday.

Also in Spain's second tier, Denis Genreau (cap #610) came off the bench in the 80th minute of Deportivo La Coruna's 3-1 win over Almeria on Monday. 

In the Eredivisie, Max Balard played a full game for NAC Breda as they lost 5-0 to RKC Waalwijk on Monday. 

Jason Davidson (cap #545) got through all of Panserraikos' 5-0 loss to AEK Athens on Monday in the Greek Super League. 

Subway Olyroos

Jahce Novello made the bench for Cosenza as they downed Carrarese 1-0 on Sunday in Serie B.

Cameron Peupion was subbed on in the 67th minute of ADO Den Haag’s 2-1 victory over FC Volendam on Saturday morning in Eerste Divisie.

Nectarios Triantis played all of Hibernian’s 1-0 win over Ayr United on Saturday in the Scottish FA Cup.

In England’s FA Cup, Raphael Borges Rodrigues came on in the 75th minute of Coventry City’s 4-1 loss to Ipswich Town on Sunday.
