Socceroos Abroad: Irankunda scores another free-kick, Bos opens Feyenoord account before September window

There was plenty of action for our Socceroos abroad heading into the September window, headlined by stunning goals from Nestory Iraknunda and Jordy Bos. 

Here is a look at the matches from the previous weekend.

CommBank Socceroos

Starting in the Netherlands, where Jordy Bos (#cap 632) scored his first goal for Feyenoord on Monday, playing a full game as the side beat Sparta Rotterdam 4-0 in the Rotterdam derby to go top of the Eredivisie. 


Moving on to the EFL Championship on Sunday, where Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) scored another sensational free-kick for Watford in their 2-2 draw with Southampton. The attacker played 83 minutes for the Hornets and now has two goals and one assist this season.

 


In other Championship action Sunday, Cameron Burgess (cap #633) helped Swansea City keep a clean sheet, playing a full game as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0.

Massimo Luongo (cap #571) played a full game for Millwall as they lost 2-0 to Wrexham on Sunday.

Sam Silvera (cap #634) played the first half of Middlesbrough's 1-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday. Tom Glover was on the bench for the side.

Lewis Miller (cap #635) was subbed on in the 77th minute of Blackburn Rovers' 2-0 loss to Norwich City on Sunday.

After receiving his first CommBank Socceroos selection, Adrian Segecic played until the 90th minute for Portsmouth as they edged past Preston North End 1-0 on Sunday. Hayden Matthews (cap #648) was on Portsmouth's bench. 

Callum Elder (cap #614) played until the sixth minute of stoppage time as Derby County drew 2-2 with Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Maty Ryan (cap #555) made his Levante debut as the side went down 2-0 to Elche on Saturday morning in Spain's La Liga. 

In EFL League One, Joe Gauci (cap #631) was the goalkeeper for Port Vale as they went down 1-0 to Reading on Sunday.  

In the German Bundesliga on Saturday morning, Connor Metcalfe (cap #611) came on in the 83rd minute for St. Pauli as the side beat Hamburger SV 2-0 to claim derby bragging rights.

Over to Italy's Serie A, where Alessandro Circati (cap #637) played a full game for Parma on Sunday morning, drawing 1-1 with Atalanta. The defender recorded four blocks, five clearances and three interceptions.

 


Recent Socceroos call-up, Noah Botic came on in the 73rd minute of Austria Wien's 1-0 win against Altach on Monday morning in the Austrian Bundesliga. 

Moving to the Netherlands' Eredivisie, Max Balard played a full game for NAC Breda, who lost 1-0 to AZ Alkmaar. 

Also, Ajdin Hrustic (cap #589) played 69 minutes of Heracles' 4-0 defeat to Groningen on Saturday morning. 

In Croatia, Fran Karacic (cap #607) played a full game for Hajduk Split as they drew 2-2 with Rijeka on Monday. New Socceroos call-up Anthony Kalik came on in the 84th minute for the side. 

In Denmark, Mohamed Toure (cap #636) played the first half for Randers in their 5-1 loss to FC Kobenhavn. Paul Izzo was Randers' goalkeeper. 

In the Belgian Pro League, Ryan Teague (cap #649) came on in the 81st minute for KV Mechelen as the side drew 1-1 with RAAL La Louviere. 

In Serbia on Sunday, Milos Degenek (cap #585) played a full game for TSC Backa Topola in their 2-2 draw with Javor. 

In the Spanish Segunda División, Awer Mabil (cap #597) played all of Castellon's 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza on Sunday. 

Looking at the United States, Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) played 83 minutes of Nashville's 1-0 loss to Atlanta on Sunday.

Kye Rowles (cap #622) played a full game for DC United as they beat Aiden O'Neill's (cap #629) New York City 2-1. O'Neill also played a full game for City. 

In the Scottish Premiership, Cameron Devlin (cap #625) played all of Hearts' 2-1 win over Livingston on Sunday. Ryan McGowan (cap #546) played a full game for Livingston. 

In further Scottish Premiership football on Monday, Martin Boyle (cap #599) played 64 minutes as Hibernian drew 1-1 with St. Mirren. Keanu Baccus (cap #628) played a full game for St. Mirren. 

Additionally, Kusini Yengi (cap #638) played the first half of Aberdeen's 1-0 loss to Falkirk. The newly called-up Nicolas Milanovic was subbed off in the 54th minute. 

Apostolos Stamatelopoulos (cap #644) played a full game for Motherwell in their 2-2 draw with Kilmarnock on Sunday. 

Also in Austria on Monday, Marco Tilio (cap #616) made his Rapid Wien debut, playing the first half of a 1-0 defeat to Hartberg. 

In Eerste Divisie, Josh Nisbet (#642) played a full game for Roda JC Kerkrade in their 0-0 draw with FC Eindhoven. 

In Japan, Mitch Duke (#559) came on in the 85th minute for Machida Zelvia as they lost 5-3 to Kawasaki on Sunday evening. 

In the Thai Premier League, Kenny Dougall (cap #608) played a full game for Buriram United in their 2-1 win over Chiangrai United on Sunday night. 

Harrison Delbridge (cap #623) was on Incheon United's bench as they drew 1-1 with Chungnam Asan on Saturday night. 

Finishing with some transfer news, Garang Kuol (cap #627) has completed a move to AC Sparta Praha in the Czech First League over the weekend. Kuol joins from English Premier League outfit Newcastle United, signing a four-year deal.
