Socceroos Abroad: Irvine scores again, Ryan, Rowles and Circati notch clean sheets

It was a good weekend for many Socceroos abroad, with two on the scoresheet and a few clean sheets earned as well.

Here is how it all played out. 

Subway Socceroos

Jackson Irvine (cap #568) proved the difference for St Pauli, scoring the winning goal against Hansa Rostock to send his team back to the top of the 2. Bundesliga on Saturday morning. Connor Metcalfe (cap #611) also played 85 minutes for St Pauli.

 

Also in 2. Bundesliga, John Iredale (cap #640) started and notched an early assist for Wehen Wiesbaden in the side’s 5-3 loss to Greuther Furth on Sunday night. He went on to play 88 minutes of the match.

Alessandro Circati (cap #637) helped keep a clean sheet for Parma as they downed Lecco 4-0 in Serie B on Saturday night. Parma are five points clear at the top of the competition with three matches left.

Maty Ryan (cap #555) kept a clean sheet - his 12th in the league - in a standout display for AZ Alkmaar as they beat NEC Nijmegen 3-0 on Monday in the Eredivisie.

Staying in the Netherlands, Ajdin Hrustic (cap #589) played all of Heracles Almelo's’ 3-1 loss to PEC Zwolle on Monday.

Gethin Jones (cap #639) played a full game for Bolton Wanderers in their 3-3 draw with Peterborough on Saturday night in EFL League One. Bolton will now face Barnsley home and away in the play-off for a shot at promotion to the EFL Championship.

Further, Callum Elder (cap #614) played from the 71st minute for Derby County as they earned promotion to the EFL Championship on Saturday night, defeating Carlisle United 2-0.

 

Also in the competition, Kusini Yengi (cap #638) came on in the 66th minute of Portsmouth’s 2-0 win over Lincoln on Sunday.

Sam Silvera (cap #634) was subbed on in the 61st minute of Middlesbrough’s 4-1 win against Cardiff City on Sunday in the EFL Championship. However, the side will fall just short of a promotion play-off spot.

Elsewhere in England’s second tier, Cameron Burgess (cap #633) and Massimo Luongo (cap #571) started Ipswich Town’s 3-3 draw with Hull City. Burgess played a full game, while Luongo played 76 minutes.

Hibernian’s Martin Boyle (cap #599) beat St Johnstone’s Ryan McGowan (cap #546) 3-1 on Sunday in the Scottish Premiership. Both players played full games for their respective sides.

Also in Scotland’s top flight, Cameron Devlin (cap #625) and Kye Rowles (cap #622) started Hearts’ 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock on Sunday. Devlin played 81 minutes, while Rowles got through all of the game.

Finally in the Scottish Premiership, Ryan Strain (cap #624) played 84 minutes of St Mirren’s 2-1 loss to Rangers on Monday. He was replaced by Keanu Baccus (cap #628) in the game.

Dylan McGowan (cap #590) played all of Hamilton Academical’s 1-0 win over Alloa Athletic on Sunday morning in the Scottish League One.

Jordan Bos (cap #632) played a full game for Westerlo as they went down 3-2 to Gent on Sunday morning in Belgium’s First Division A.

Dimitri Petratos (cap 593) and Jason Cummings (cap #626) started in Mohun Bagan’s 2-0 win over Odisha on Monday, which saw the team through to the Indian Super League final. Cummings opened the scoring and played until the 90th minute, while Petratos played a full game.

 


In Major League Soccer, Brad Smith (cap #575) played the second half of Houston’s 2-0 loss to Dallas on Sunday morning.

Mitchell Duke (cap #559) came on in the 69th minute of Machida Zelvia’s 2-0 defeat to Jubilo Iwata on Saturday in J. League.

Also, Mitch Langerak (cap #566) was the goalkeeper for Nagoya Grampus’ 2-1 loss to Urawa Red Diamonds on Sunday afternoon.

Kenny Dougall (cap #608) played all of Buriram United’s 3-1 win over Muang Thong United on Saturday night in Thai League.

Harrison Delbridge (cap #623) returned to the starting lineup for Incheon United, helping to keep a clean sheet in their 0-0 draw with Pohang Steelers on K-League 1 on Sunday.

In Norway’s Eliteserien, Nick D’Agostino (cap #621), Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) and Gianni Stesness (cap #617) all played an hour for Viking in their 3-3 draw with Odd on Monday.

Subway Olyroos

Tyrese Francios got through a full game for Vejle Boldklub in their 1-1 draw with Lyngby on Saturday morning in the Danish Superligaen.

Adrian Segecic came off the bench to score the equaliser for FC Dordrecht in a 3-3 draw against Cambuur in Eerste Divisie on Saturday morning. The 19-year-old now has four goals in the competition this season.

 


Alexandar Popovic played a full game for Gwangju FC on Saturday night as they went down 2-1 to Suown FC in the K-League 1.

In EFL League One, Nicholas Bilokapic remained on the bench for Peterborough United in their 3-3 draw with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday night. United will now face Oxford United across two legs for a chance at a promotion final.

In the Polish I Liga, Louis D’Arrigo played 56 minutes of Lechia Gdansk’s 4-2 loss to Stal Rzeszow on Sunday.
