Socceroos Abroad: Izzo stars in Randers wins, Boyle opens Scottish Premiership account, fascinating fixtures await

There was some important midweek action for Socceroos abroad, with Paul Izzo and Martin Boyle providing significant contributions for their respective sides.

There are more games this weekend as teams seek to build a run of form at the start of their European seasons. 

Here is a look at the latest action. 

Commbank Socceroos

Starting in Denmark, Paul Izzo (cap #650) made five saves to earn Randers a clean sheet in their 3-0 victory over Nordsjaelland on Tuesday. Mohamed Toure (cap #636) played 77 minutes for the side. The pair will face Midtjylland on Tuesday at 3:00am (AEST).

In the Scottish Premiership, Martin Boyle (cap #599) scored from the spot in Hibernian's 2-2 draw with Falkirk on Wednesday morning. Recent call-up Jack Iredale was on Hibs' bench. The pair could start for Hibernian against Celtic on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST).

Elsewhere in Scotland on Wednesday morning, Nicolas Milanovic (cap #651) played 86 minutes as Aberdeen lost 2-0 to Dundee United. Kusini Yengi (cap #638) came on in the 67th minute for Aberdeen, while Ryan Strain (cap #624) was on United's bench. 

Cameron Devlin (cap #625) will look to continue his strong early-season form when Hearts host Falkirk on Sunday at 12:00 am (AEST). Apostolos Stamatelopoulos' (cap #644) Motherwell host Aberdeen at 2:45am (AEST). 

In Spain, Maty Ryan (cap #555) was Levante's goalkeeper as they lost 4-1 to Real Madrid on Wednesday morning. The Socceroos captain should start on Saturday as Levante face Getafe at 10:00pm (AEST). 

In Italy's Coppa Italia, Alessandro Circati (cap #637) came on at halftime of Parma's penalty victory over Spezia. The scores were tied at 2-2 at full-time, with Parma prevailing 4-3 on penalties despite Circati's penalty being saved. Circati should feature in Serie A action against Torino on Tuesday at 2:30am (AEST).

Over to the EFL Championship, Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) played a full game for Watford as they lost 1-0 to Millwall on Tuesday morning. Massimo Luongo (cap #571) played a full game for Millwall. 

Moving on to this weekend's matches in the Championship, Cameron Burgess (cap #633) should start for Swansea City when they host Luongo's Millwall on Saturday at 9:30pm (AEST). Concurrently, Callum Elder (cap #614) could start for Derby County when they welcome Wrexham. 

Elsewhere, Lewis Miller (cap #635) could be in Blackburn Rovers' squad for their away trip to Charlton on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST). 

Hayden Matthews (cap #648) will target further minutes for Portsmouth when they travel to Ipswich Town at the same time. Recent call-up Adrian Segecic is likely to start for Pompey. While Sam Silvera (cap #634) could be in Middlesbrough's squad for their home tie with Southampton. 

In the EFL Cup, Joe Gauci (cap #631) started in goal for Port Vale as they lost 2-0 to Arsenal on Thursday morning. Gauci should be Port Vale's goalkeeper when they face the 25-year-old's former side Barnsley, where he made seven appearances last campaign at 12:00am (AEST) on Sunday. 

In Croatia on Thursday, Anthony Kalik played until the 69th minute and was replaced by Fran Karacic (cap #607) as Hajduk Split beat Koprivnica 4-1 in the Croatian Cup. On Sunday at 2:45am (AEST), Karacic could start against his former side NK Lokomotiva in Croatia's HNL. The fullback had a successful 2024/25 season at Lokomotiva, contributing three goals and four assists across thirty-six appearances. 

In the Europa League, Jordan Bos (cap #632) was on the bench for Feyenoord's 1-0 defeat to Braga on Thursday. Bos is likely to start on Sunday at 10:30pm (AEST) against Groningen in the Eredivisie.

Also in the Netherlands, Max Balard (cap #652) should feature for NAC Breda against Ajax on Sunday at 12:30am (AEST), while Ajdin Hrustic (cap #589) could start for Heracles against Sparta Rotterdam at 5:00am (AEST).

Moving to the German Bundesliga where Connor Metcalfe cap #611) could get minutes for St Pauli as they host Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday at 11:30pm (AEST). 

In the Belgian Pro League, Ryan Teague (cap #649) is set to be in KV Mechelen's squad against Sporting Charleroi on Monday at 2:30am (AEST). 

In Serbia, Milos Degenek (cap #585) should start in defence for TSC Backa Topola when they host Novi Pazar on Monday at 12:00am (AEST). 

In the MLS, Aiden O'Neill (cap #629) played a full game for New York City in their 4-0 loss to Lionel Messi's Inter Miami. The midfielder should be involved in the New York derby against Red Bulls on Sunday at 9:30am (AEST). 

Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) is likely to start for Nashville as they take on Houston Dynamo on Sunday at 10:30 am (AEST). 

Elsewhere in MLS, Kye Rowles (cap #622) could start for DC United as they welcome league-leading Philadelphia Union on Sunday at 9:30am (AEST). 

In Austria, Marco Tilio (cap #616) could face recent call-up Noah Botic when Rapid Wien go head-to-head with Austria Wien in the derby on Monday at 1:00am (AEST). 

In the Czech Cup, Garang Kuol (cap #627) made his first start for Sparta Praha, playing 80 minutes as the side beat Karlovy Vary 5-0 on Thursday. Kuol could feature in the league against Banik Ostrava on Saturday at 11:00 pm (AEST). 

Moving back to the Scottish Premiership, where Keanu Baccus (cap #628) could start for St. Mirren against Dundee FC on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST). 

Elsewhere in the Netherlands, Josh Nisbet (#642) is likely to start on Saturday at 4:00am (AEST) for Roda JC Kerkrade against TOP Oss in Eerste Divisie. 

In Norway, Gianni Stensness (cap #617) played 67 minutes for Viking in their 2-0 win over Eik-Tonsberg on Thursday. Stesness could be involved for Viking on Sunday at 2:00am (AEST) against Sarpsborg in Eliteserien. 

In Japan, Jason Geria (cap #586) played a full game as Yokohama F.Marinos lost 3-1 to Gamba Osaka on Tuesday evening. Geria could start on Saturday at 6:00pm (AEST) as Albirex take on Gamba Osaka. 

Continuing in Japan on Tuesday, Mitch Duke (cap #559) came on in the 75th minute as Machida Zelvia drew 1-1 with Kyoto Sanga. Duke should be Machida's squad as they take on Fagiano Okayama on Saturday at 5:00pm (AEST).

In EFL League One, Raphael Borges Rodrigues played 70 minutes as Wigan Athletic lost 2-0 to Wycombe Wanderers on Wednesday. Wigan host Cardiff City on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST). 

In the MLS, Giuseppe Bovalina played 80 minutes of Vancouver's 1-1 draw with Portland. Bovalina could get minutes on Sunday at 12:30pm (AEST) against Seattle Sounders.
