In mid-week EFL Championship action, Callum Elder (cap #614) continued his outstanding run of form for Derby County, playing the full 90 and delivering a pinpoint assist in a 2–1 win over Swansea City on Wednesday. The defender’s contribution extended the Rams’ hot streak to six wins from their past seven and helped lift them to seventh in the Championship, an impressive turnaround for a side that spent last season battling relegation.

Cameron Burgess (cap #633) also played the full match for Swansea.

Swansea return to action on Sunday at 2am (AEDT) against West Brom while Derby face Middlesbrough on Sunday at 2am (AEDT).

Elsewhere, Lewis Miller (cap #635) played another full game for Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship in a 1-0 loss over QPR on Thursday. The defeat came after a strong run of form from Miller, who has settled into life in England with a string of consistent performances in the Championship.

Across his five league matches prior to the QPR result, the 25-year-old recorded a goal and an assist, kept two clean sheets and played every minute. His standout moment came with a towering header against Preston North End that secured three valuable away points for Rovers.

Blackburn now turn their attention to Wrexham on Sunday at 2am (AEDT).

Hayden Matthews (cap #648) was an unused substitute for Portsmouth on Thursday in a 3-0 loss to Sheffield United. Adrian Segecic also started and played the first half.

NYCFC have reached the Conference Final for the third time in five seasons as they chase a return to the MLS Cup for the first time since lifting the trophy in 2021. Their playoff run has showcased resilience and consistency, beginning with a hard-earned Round One series win over Charlotte FC and continuing with a statement victory over the Supporters’ Shield-winning Philadelphia Union in the Semifinals.

They opened the postseason with a 1-0 away win in Game 1 against Charlotte before the Crown hit back via penalties in Game 2. In the do-or-die Game 3 on the road, NYCFC surged to a 3-1 win to claim the series. From there, they stunned Philadelphia 1-0 in the Semifinals despite missing several key players, including O’Neill, to book their spot in the final.
