Socceroos Abroad: Ryan keeps clean sheet, Boyle stars again, Circati makes solid return

There were several headline performances from our Subway Socceroos abroad as the season wrapped up across several European leagues. 

Maty Ryan finished his Ligue 1 season with RC Lens in style, while Alessandro Circati proved pivotal for Parma as they held the Serie A league leaders to a goalless stalemate.

Martin Boyle concluded his campaign in Scotland with more goal contributions, among other Aussie goal scorers this weekend. 

Here is a look at how it all played out. 

Subway Socceroos

Starting in France, where Maty Ryan (cap #555) kept a clean sheet as RC Lens stunned third-placed AS Monaco on Sunday morning in the final game of the Ligue 1 season. The Socceroos goalkeeper made three saves as he secured his sixth clean sheet since joining from AS Roma in January. 

In Serie A, Alessandro Circati (cap #637) made his return to the pitch for Parma, contributing to a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with title-chasing Napoli. The defender last played in Serie A in mid-September. Circati made seven clearances and won all five of his aerial duels. 

Over to Germany, where St. Pauli's Jackson Irvine (cap #568) and Connor Metcalfe (cap #611) will be playing in the Bundesliga again next season after the Hamburg-based club's finished three points above the relegation zone in 14th place.


Martin Boyle (cap #599) proved the star for Hibernian again on Sunday morning, picking up a goal and an assist in their 2-2 draw with Rangers in the final round of the Scottish Premiership Championship Group to finish third overall. Boyle finishes the campaign with 20 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, which is his best-ever return in the Scottish top flight. 

Hibs also announced they had triggered the one-year extension clause in Boyle's contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025-26 season.


Nectarios Triantis played 79 minutes for Hibs in his final game before returning to Sunderland following the conclusion of his loan. Recent training camp squad call-up Jack Iredale also played until the 93rd minute for the side. 

Hibernian will play in the UEFA Europa League next season. 

Cameron Devlin (cap #625) played all of Hearts' 1-0 win over Kilmarnock on Monday morning. Hearts finished top of the Relegation Group on 52 points. 

Ryan Strain (cap #624) played a full game for Dundee United as they beat Aberdeen 2-1 on Sunday morning, securing UEFA Conference League football for next season. 

Also, Josh Nisbet (cap #642) played all of Ross County's 1-1 draw with Motherwell on Monday. 

In the United States, Aiden O'Neill (cap #629) played a full game for New York City as they beat New York Red Bulls 2-0 on Sunday morning. 

Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) played the first half of Nashville's 0-0 draw with DC United on Sunday morning, while Kye Rowles (cap #622) played the second half for United. 

Fran Karacic (cap #607) played a full game for NK Lokomotiva as they drew 1-1 with Dinamo Zagreb on Sunday morning in Croatia. 

In Greece, Jason Davidson (cap #545) played a full game for Panserraikos in their 1-0 loss to Levadiakos on Sunday night. 

In the English Premier League, Massimo Luongo (cap #575) was subbed on in the 89th minute of Ipswich Town's 2-0 loss to Leicester City on Monday. 

In Denmark, Paul Izzo and Mohamed Toure (cap #636) played full games in Randers' 4-0 loss to FC Kobenhavn on Monday.  

In Switzerland, Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) came on in the 62nd minute of Grasshopper's 2-1 loss to Sion on Sunday morning. Grasshopper remain level on points with Yverdon, who currently occupy the permanent relegation spot heading into the final game of the season. 

In the Eredivisie, Max Balard played a full match for NAC Breda as the side drew 1-1 with Willem II on Sunday night. NAC Breda finish the season in 15th, one place above the relegation places. 

In the J1 League, Mitchell Duke (cap #559) was subbed on in the 69th minute of Machida Zelvia's 3-0 win over Kashiwa Reysol on Saturday evening. 

Thomas Deng (cap #598) came on in the 10th minute of Yokohama F.Marinos 3-0 loss to Kyoto Sanga on Saturday afternoon. 

Finally in Japan, Jason Geria (cap #586) played a full game for Albirex Niigata as they lost 2-1 to Fagiano Okayama on Sunday evening. 

In the Scottish Championship, Ryan McGowan (cap #546) played a full game for Livingston as the side secured a 2-0 win and a place in the promotion final for a shot playing Scottish Premiership football next season. 

In Segunda Division, Awer Mabil (cap #597) played a full game for Castellon in their 1-1 draw with Eldense on Monday morning. 

Also, Denis Genreau (cap #610) was on the bench for Deportivo La Coruna's 3-2 loss to Granada on Sunday morning. 

In Korea, John Iredale (cap #640) scored the winner for Seoul E-Land as they beat Gimpo FC 2-1 on Sunday night. 

In the AFC Champions League Two Final, Bailey Wright (cap #576) played a full game for Lion City Sailors as they lost out 2-1 to Sharjah Cultural Club on Sunday night.

Subway Olyroos

Jed Drew came on at halftime to score the winning goal in Hartberg's 3-2 win over WSG Tirol, on Sunday in the Austrian Bundesliga. It was Drew's second goal since joining the club earlier in the year. 

In Eerste Divisie, Cameron Peupion played a full game for ADO Den Haag as they went out of Eredivisie qualification with a 1-0 loss to Telstar on Sunday. 

In MLS, Giuseppe Bovalina was on the Vancouver bench for Sunday's 0-0 draw with Austin.
