Socceroos Abroad: Ryan produces another top display in Spain, Boyle re-signs in Scotland, mixed fortunes elsewhere in Europe

There were some big results over the weekend for Commbank Socceroos abroad, with many winding up their domestic seasons or gearing up for a crucial final round.

Maty Ryan secured another clean sheet in a season-changing victory for Levante over in Spain, while other Socceroos had mixed fortunes on the final day of their seasons.

Here is how another action-packed weekend played out. 

CommBank Socceroos

Starting in LaLiga, Maty Ryan (cap #555) put in a superb display in goal for Levante as they claimed a 2-0 win against Mallorca on Monday morning. The result lifts Levante out of the relegation zone heading into the final game of the season this weekend. 


In Scotland, Martin Boyle (cap #599) played a full game for Hibernian as they lost 1-0 to Motherwell on Saturday night, missing out on European football for next season. Boyle recently signed a one-year extension at Hibs to see the attacker through to the end of next season. 
 

 

Ante Suto was subbed on in the 70th minute, while Jack Iredale remained on the bench for Hibs in the game. 

Also in the competition on Saturday, Cameron Devlin (cap #625) played a full game for Hearts in their 3-1 loss to Celtic, seeing them lose out on the Scottish Premiership title to their opponents.

In the German Bundesliga, Jackson Irvine (cap #568) and Connor Metcalfe (cap #611) played until the 90th minute of St. Pauli's 3-1 loss to Wolfsburg on Saturday night, confirming their relegation to 2. Bundesliga. Metcalfe picked up the assist for the side's only goal in the match. 

Looking to Austria, Jacob Italiano (cap #653) played a full game for Grazer AK in a 3-0 win against BW Linz on Sunday morning as they concluded their season on a high. 

Jordan Bos (cap #632) also played a full game over in the Eredivisie as Feyenoord claimed a 2-0 victory against PEC Zwolle on Sunday night (AEST) in their final game of the season. 

Continuing in the Netherlands at the same time, Max Balard (cap #652) played a full game in NAC Breda's 3-3 draw with AZ Alkmaar as they suffered relegation finishing second to bottom.

Over in Serie A, Alessandro Circati (cap #637) played all of Parma's 1-0 loss to Como on Sunday evening. 

Deni Juric (cap #659) played an hour for Wisla Plock as they lost 1-0 to Gornick Zabrze on Sunday morning in Poland. 

Over in Cyprus, Milos Degenek (cap #585) played a full game for APOEL in a 3-0 defeat to Onomonia on Sunday. 

Fran Karacic (cap #607) played the first half for Osijek in their 2-0 loss to HNK Gorica on Sunday in Croatia. 

Awer Mabil (cap #597) was subbed on in the 57th minute of Castellon's 1-1 draw with Cadiz on Saturday morning in La Liga 2. 

Over in the MLS, Kai Trewin (cap #656) played a full game for New York City as they drew 1-1 with New York Red Bulls on Sunday morning.

Elsewhere in the competition on Sunday, Kye Rowles (cap #622) played a full game for DC United in their 1-1 draw with St. Louis City, while Lucas Herrington (cap #658) played all of Colorado's 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake. 

Gianni Stensness (cap #617) scored for Viking in a dramatic come-from-behind 6-3 win against Start on Sunday morning in Norway. 

Back in Scotland, Ryan Strain (cap #624) played 66 minutes for Dundee United in a 1-1 draw with St. Mirren on Sunday night, while Nicolas Milanovic (cap #651) was subbed on in the 69th minute for Aberdeen as the side lost 3-2 to Dundee FC. 

In the Czech Republic, Garang Kuol (cap #627) played until the 62nd minute of Sparta Prague's 2-0 win against Slovan Liberec overnight. 

Marco Tilio (cap #616) was on the bench for Rapid Wien's 2-0 defeat to Sturm Graz on Sunday night. 

Buriram United's Kenny Dougall (cap #608) and Curtis Good (cap #569) claimed the Thai FA Cup over the weekend with a 5-0 win against Ayutthaya United. Good played started and played an hour for the side, while Dougall came on at halftime. 

In India, Jamie Maclaren (cap #584) played a full game for Mohun Bagan SG in a 1-1 draw with East Bengal on Monday morning. Jason Cummings (cap #626) scored a dramatic late equaliser for the side, which was assisted by Dimitri Petratos (cap #593) after both players came off the bench in the second half. 

Bailey Wright (cap #576) played all of Lion City Sailors' 3-2 loss to Tampines Rovers on Sunday night on the final day of the Singapore Premier League as the side claimed the title again. 

In South Korea, John Iredale (cap #640) was subbed on in the 68th minute for Seoul E-Land in their 2-2 draw with Yongin on Saturday evening.
