Socceroos Abroad: Toure continues scoring streak in England, Herrington puts in top display in MLS

There were some more standout performances from our CommBank Socceroos abroad during the week, as Mohamed Toure scored again in England, while Lucas Herrington delivered a top shift in the United States.

Here is the latest action, with another big set of fixtures coming this weekend. 

CommBank Socceroos

Starting in the EFL Championship, Mohamed Toure (cap #636) scored again for Norwich in a 2-1 win against Derby on Wednesday to take his tally to eight. The striker also missed a penalty, leaving the side with a slim chance of a play-off spot with two games to play. Toure has nine goals in 10 matches along with three assists for the Canaries. 

He is expected to be in action this weekend when Norwich host Swansea on Sunday at 12:00am AEST.


In MLS, Lucas Herrington (cap #658) helped keep a clean sheet for Colorado in a 0-0 draw with Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon. The young defender produced a strong performance, completing 120 passes while making four tackles and four clearances. Herrington is expected to start when Colorado travel to Vancouver on Sunday at 12:30pm (AEST).


Aiden O'Neill (cap #629) picked up an assist, playing a full game in New York City's high-scoring 4-4 draw with Cincinnati on Thursday morning. Kai Trewin (cap #656) also played a full game for City. The pair could start again on Sunday at 4:30am (AEST) against Montreal.

Kye Rowles (cap #622) played a full game for DC United in a thrilling 4-4 draw with New York Red Bulls on Thursday morning. The defender is likely start on Sunday at 9:30am (AEST) against Colorado.

Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) should be in line for a start when Nashville welcome Charlotte on Sunday at 10:30am (AEST).

Back in the EFL Championship, Cameron Burgess (cap #633) played a full game for Swansea City in a 2-1 win against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday. Norwich host Swansea on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST).

Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) played the first half for Watford in a 3-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday.

Middlesbrough’s Sam Silvera (cap #634) faces Irankunda’s Watford on Saturday night at 9:30pm (AEST) as the side looks to confirm their place in the play-offs. Riley McGree (cap #609) might miss the match for Middlesbrough due to an injury. 

Silvera was subbed on in the 78th minute of Middlesbrough’s 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday morning, as the side took a big step towards the play-offs.

Harry Souttar (cap #606) made the bench for the second game running as Leicester City drew 2-2 with Hull City on Wednesday morning, confirming their relegation from the Championship to EFL League One. Leicester host Millwall on Saturday morning at 5:00am (AEST), when Souttar could make his season debut.

In Spain’s La Liga, Maty Ryan (cap #555) kept a clean sheet in a crucial 2-0 win for Levante against Sevilla on Friday morning. The victory moves them two points from safety where the Frogs will be aiming to build on their recent momentum and climb out of the relegation zone. 

The goalkeeper is tipped to be in action again when Levante travel to Espanyol on Tuesday at 5:00am (AEST). 
 


Alessandro Circati (cap #637) should start for Parma when they host Pisa on Saturday at 11:00pm (AEST) in Italy’s Serie A.

Over in the German Bundesliga, Jackson Irvine (cap #568) and Connor Metcalfe (cap #611) could both feature for St. Pauli away to Heidenheim on Saturday at 11:30pm (AEST). St. Pauli are in desperate need of the three points, aiming to snap a six-game winless run as they lie in the relegation playoff spot.

In the Netherlands, Jordan Bos (cap #632) is likely to start for Feyenoord when they host Groningen on Sunday at 12:30am (AEST).

Elsewhere in Eredivisie, Ajdin Hrustic (cap #589) should start for Heracles as they take on Volendam on Sunday at 10:30pm (AEST), while Max Balard’s (cap #652) NAC Breda host Ajax at 4:00am (AEST).

Looking to Austria, Jacob Italiano (cap #653) should start for Grazer AK away to Wolfsberger on Sunday at 1:00am (AEST).

In Poland, Deni Juric (cap #659) could start for Wisla Plock on Sunday at 8:15pm (AEST) against Radomiak Radom.

Over to Denmark, where Paul Izzo (cap #650) was the goalkeeper for Randers 2-2 draw with Fredericia on Friday morning. Izzo should start in goal against on Sunday at 10:00pm (AEST).

Milos Degenek (cap #585) could start on Monday at 12:00am (AEST) when APOEL host Pafos in the Cyprus League Championship Play-off, following a 4-2 defeat in the first leg of the Cypriot Cup semi-finals on Thursday.

Back in spain in La Liga 2, Awer Mabil (cap #597) is expected to get minutes for Castellon when they travel to Malaga on Sunday at 5:00am (AEST).

In EFL League One, Alex Robertson (cap #630) played 62 minutes for Cardiff City in a 1-0 win against Port Vale on Thursday morning. Joe Gauci (cap #631) was in goal for Port Vale. Gauci’s Port Vale travel away to Plymouth on Sunday at 12:00am (AEST), while Cardiff take on Northampton Town at the same time.

Looking to Scotland, Martin Boyle (cap #599), Ante Suto and Jack Iredale could all be involved for Hibernian when they host Cameron Devlin’s (cap #625) Hearts in the Edinburgh derby on Monday at 1:30am (AEST).

Ryan McGowan (cap #546) is likely to start for Livingston at home to Keanu Baccus’ (cap #628) St. Mirren on Sunday at 12:00 am (AEST).

At the same time, Nicolas Milanovic (cap #651) could get minutes for Aberdeen against Kilmarnock, while Ryan Strain (cap #624) could start for Dundee United against rivals Dundee FC at 11:00 pm on Sunday.

On Monday at 12:00 am (AEST), Anthony Kalik is likely to be on the Hajduk Split bench for their away trip to Rijeka on Monday at 12:00 am (AEST) in Croatia. Kalik was on the bench for the side’s 1-0 loss to Osijek on Wednesday morning
