Starting with mid-week Championship action, Mohamed Toure (cap #636) scored a hat-trick on starting debut in English Championship for Norwich in a 3-0 away win over Oxford on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old forward has made an immediate impact since arriving in England, taking his tally to four goals in just two games after also scoring off the bench in a 2-0 win over Blackburn last weekend.
Rewarded with a place in Philippe Clement’s starting XI against relegation-threatened Oxford, Toure needed just 51 seconds to open the scoring with his first touch before adding further goals in the 19th and 47th minutes to seal the result and lift Norwich to 16th on the table.
In doing so, he became the first player since Jesse Lingard for Birmingham City in 2013 to score a hat-trick on his starting debut in any of England’s top four tiers.
The Canaries return to action on Sunday at 2am (AEDT) in the FA Cup fourth round against West Brom.
Riley McGree (cap #509) also starred for Middlesbrough, producing a goal and an assist in a man-of-the-match performance as Boro secured a 2–1 away win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old played 67 minutes and was central to Boro’s victory, which lifted them to the top of the Championship ladder and seven points clear of third-placed Ipswich Town.

Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) could appear for Watford when they travel to Preston on Sunday at 2am (AEDT), with the club beginning a new chapter under recently appointed head coach Edward Still.
Watford confirmed Still on a two-and-a-half-year deal following the departure of Javi Gracia after just three months in charge, with the 35-year-old arriving at Vicarage Road after most recently serving as assistant manager at Belgian side Anderlecht.
