Socceroos Abroad: Toure nets hat-trick, Mabil's incredible impact, promotion for Robertson

Starting in the Championship, where Mohamed Toure (cap #636) played 77 minutes and scored three goals for Norwich in their 4-2 away win over Bristol City on Sunday.

Toure has now scored seven goals in eight league appearances and registered three assists. The victory sees the club sit in ninth position on the Championship ladder.


Elsewhere, Nestory Irankunda (cap #643) played the full game for Watford in a 2-0 loss to Sheffield United on Sunday.

Sam Silvera (cap #634) came off the bench in the 83rd minute for Middlesbrough in a 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town on Sunday, while Riley McGree (cap #609) was absent with Boro head coach Kim Hellberg confirmed the Australian international picked up a knock in training the day before the match, but should make a return midweek.

Boro's hopes of securing automatic promotion now fade and their winless run extended to seven games.

Cameron Burgess (cap #633) played another full game for Swansea City in a 2-1 loss to Southampton on Sunday.

Harry Souttar (cap #606) was an unused substitute for Leicester City on Saturday in a 1-0 loss to Portsmouth. 

It is now one win in 17 for the Foxes, whose demotion to the third tier 10 years after winning the Premier League could be confirmed as soon as this week.

Elsewhere in England, Alex Robertson (cap #630) played 68 minutes in League One for Cardiff City on Sunday as they beat Reading 3-1 to seal promotion back to the Championship.

The win sees Bluebirds go 11 points clear of third place in the division and confirms their automatic promotion after last season's relegation. 



Joe Gauci (cap #631) kept a clean sheet on Monday in a 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic in League One. Vale must now win all of their four remaining fixtures and hope Leyton Orient and AFC Wimbledon fail to pick up the points they need for survival.

In League Two, Gethin Jones (cap #639) played a full game for MK Dons in a 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra FC on Sunday.

MK Dons are within touching distance of promotion to League One and just two points behind the league leaders. 

In Spain's second tier, Awer Mabil (cap #597) came off the bench in the 72nd minute for Castellón, before assisting and scoring to turn the match on its head and seal a 3-1 win over Burgos CF on Sunday.

It's a massive three points for the club as they continue their push for promotion to Spain's top flight for next season.


In Serie A over in Italy, Alessandro Circati (cap #637) played another full game and helped keep a clean sheet for Parma on Saturday in a 1-0 win over Udinese.

The Socceroos defender was outstanding at the back, finishing with 90% passing accuracy, five clearances, two tackles, winning all four of his duels and not being dribbled past once in a composed display.


In the MLS, Lucas Herrington (cap #658) returned to the Colorado Rapids starting lineup, played a full game and assisted in a 3-2 loss to Inter Miami CF on Sunday.

Patrick Yazbek (cap #641) also came off the bench in the 67th minute for Nashville in a 2-0 win over Atlanta United FC on Sunday to go four points clear at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference.

Elsewhere in the MLS, Kai Trewin (cap #656) played 87 minutes for New York City while Aiden O'Neill (cap #629) played the full game in a 2-1 loss to Charlotte FC on Sunday.

Also, Kye Rowles (cap #622) played the full match for DC United and kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Philadelphia Union on Sunday.

In the German Bundesliga, Jackson Irvine (cap #568) played a full game while Connor Metcalfe (cap #611) came off the bench in the 78th minute for St. Pauli in a 1-1 draw with FC Köln on Saturday.

The defeat leaves them in a relegation play-off spot as Pauli entered the match winless since late February, having collected just two points from its previous five league games. 

Jacob Italiano (cap #653) played another full game for Grazer AK in a 1-1 draw with SV Ried on Saturday in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Staying in Austria, Marco Tilio (cap #616) was an unused substitute for Rapid Wien in a 2-2 draw with TSV Hartberg on Sunday.

In Denmark, Paul Izzo (cap #650) was in goal for Randers in a 3-1 loss to Odense Boldklub on Sunday.

In Japan, Jason Geria (cap #586) played a full game for Albirex Niigata in a 1-0 win over FC Imabari on Saturday.

Over in Cyprus, Milos Degenek (cap #585) was an unused substitute for APOEL on Sunday in a 2-0 loss to Omonoia FC.

Looking to the Czech Republic, Garang Kuol (cap #627) came on in the 74th minute for Sparta Prague in a 3-1 win over FK Jablonec on Sunday.

Back in the Netherlands, Josh Nisbet (#642) played the full game and scored a goal on Saturday as Roda JC Kerkrade drew 2-2 with FC Emmen.

In Norway, Gianni Stensness (cap #617) also played a full game for Viking in a 3-2 win over SK Brann on Sunday. The club sit in second position on the competition ladder, one point behind Tromso.
