Socceroos at Home: A-League Men's 2022/23 Round 7 Preview

The Isuzu UTE A-League 2022/23 season resumes this weekend following its one month hiatus due to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

Eight returning Socceroos are set to feature for their respective clubs with fans from across the league eager to show their appreciation for their heroes after an unprecedented Round of 16 appearance.

Two wins, two clean sheets, while scoring in all four matches were among the notable records broken by this Australian side.

Craig Goodwin declared he will make himself available for selection for Adelaide United despite only arriving from Doha on Tuesday night.

The Reds travel to face Brisbane Roar on Friday night to kick-off the action and the United skipper is hoping to continue his blistering run of form which began with Adelaide and carried into the FIFA World Cup.

The 30-year-old, who opened the scoring against France, has registered three goals and five assists in six games for Carl Veart's side.

Sydney FC vs Melbourne City - Allianz Stadium - Get Tickets

Four Socceroos will be at Allianz Stadium in Saturday night's blockbuster involving Sydney FC and Melbourne City.

Sky Blues goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne is back and will be up against a City trio of Mathew LeckieJamie Maclaren and Marco Tilio.

Indeed, Leckie played all four matches and assisted Goodwin's finish against Les Bleus, before scoring the decisive goal against Denmark to clinch the Socceroos' spot in the knockout stages.

The 31-year-old, who joined Mathew Ryan as the only Australian players to record 10 FIFA World Cup appearances, will be looking to add to his one league goal this season.

Maclaren made three substitute appearances in Qatar and will be one to watch having scored in all six matches to begin the campaign.

The 29-year-old has a league-leading eight goals for the campaign as he chases a remarkable fifth A-League Golden Boot.

Exciting young winner Marco Tilio is also back having been a late inclusion in the Socceroos squad due to Martin Boyle's injury. The 21-year-old has two goals and as many assists to his name.

Central Coast Mariners vs Newcastle Jets - Industree Group Stadium - Get Tickets

There will be three Socceroos in the F3 Derby when Central Coast Mariners entertain Newcastle Jets. 

Garang Kuol appeared twice off the bench against France and Argentina with the precocious talent becoming the youngest player to appear in the knockout stages of a FIFA World Cup since Pele in 1958.

Kuol has a pair of goals and assists as he aims to add to his tally before moving abroad to Newcastle United in January, where he is expected to be loaned out.


Fresh from a second Socceroos cap in Doha against France, Jason Cummings, is determined to keep up with Maclaren in the Golden Boot race. The 27-year-old has two goals and three assists in five matches.

Danny Vukovic is predicted to line up in goal for Central Coast and has one clean sheet to his name this term.
