CommBank Socceroos Head Coach Tony Popovic has named a 26-player squad for the FIFA Series 2026™ against Curacao and Cameroon on Friday, 27 March and Tuesday, 31 March respectively.
There are twelve changes from the squad that took part in the November international window in the United States. Lucas Herrington and Ante Suto have been called up for the first time while the likes of Jordy Bos and Alessandro Circati return after injury.
The squad is an exciting glimpse as to how they may approach the FIFA World Cup 2026™ as the team continues preparations for the global finals.
First time call-ups
Lucas Herrington
18-year-old defender Lucas Herrington is one of the most exciting prospects in Australian football.
Herrington began his career at the Brisbane Roar, having been born and raised in Queensland. He made 28 appearances for his childhood club before moving to Colorado Rapids in the MLS this year.
The centre-back also featured for the Young Socceroos who won the AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2025™.
Ante Suto
Ante Suto earns his first call-up to the CommBank Socceroos after starting his time at Scottish Premier League side Hibernian with a bang.
The 25-year-old has played the majority of his club career in Croatia before making the move to Scotland this year. He is teammates with fellow Australian international Martin Boyle.
Potential Debutants
Deni Juric
Deni Juric will have the opportunity to debut this window after having his first call-up cut short in November due to injury.
The 28-year-old has spent the majority of his club career in Croatia before signing for Polish side Wisla Plock this season. He has scored three goals in 12 games this season, including their most recent fixture.
Returning players
Aziz Behich
Aziz Behich returns to the CommBank Socceroos fold on the back of strong form for Melbourne City in the A-League Men.
The full-back has been a key part of the national team for many years, with 81 appearances and many memorable moments. He has added goals to his game recently as well, famously against Japan but also in the A-League Men this season.
Jordan Bos
23-year-old Jordy Bos is shaping up to be one of the most important players for Head Coach Tony Popovic at the FIFA World Cup 2026™, and the squad will gratefully welcome him back after a minor injury kept him out of November's action.
Bos plays his club football at Eredivisie giants Feyenoord, where he is a regular starter at left-back. He has also played minutes in an attacking left midfield role - where he picked up two assists while playing there last month in the league against Telstar.
Alessandro Circati
Centre-back Alessandro Circati also makes his way back to the squad after injury kept him out of football for around two months in November and December last year.
The 22-year-old is a key player for both his club side Parma, and also the CommBank Socceroos. Such is his influence that he was named at captain against New Zealand in September in only his seventh appearance for the national team.
Ajdin Hrustic
Ajdin Hrustic comes back into the CommBank Socceroos squad after starting regularly in clubland for Heracles Alemlo this season.
At his best, the 29-year-old midfielder is a creative force to be reckoned with - his six assists this season for Heracles is testament to that. He'll hope he can make a big impression during this international window.
Jacob Italiano
After debuting against Canada in October, the 24-year-old Jacob Italiano returns to the CommBank Socceroos squad this year.
He is a regular for Grazer AK in the Austrian Bundesliga and, after missing out on the squad in November, will be hungry to prove what he can do this time around.
Fran Karacic
Fran Karacic is a player who could play a huge role at the FIFA World Cup 2026™ after an injury to right-back Lewis Miller will keep him out of the tournament.
Karacic has been recalled by Popovic for this window in the wake of that positional opening after regularly starting for Osijek in Croatia, on loan from Hadjuk Split.
Awer Mabil
Awer Mabil has earned a recall into the national team as he looks to demonstrate his unique attacking attributes in front of home fans at the FIFA Series 2026™.
The 30-year-old has been playing regularly in La Liga 2 for Castellon this year, with two goals and four assists this season. He last earned a call-up for the national team in September 2024.
Alex Robertson
Young midfielder Alex Robertson has been recalled to the side after last featuring in the October international window last year.
He has scored five goals for Cardiff in the EFL League One this season, including two in his last five games. The 22-year-old continues to grow from strength to strength as he hopes to add to his two CommBank Socceroos caps.
Nishan Velupillay
Nishan Velupillay shone early in 2025 when he scored in FIFA World Cup 2026™ qualifying against Indonesia and China PR, and has the opportunity to show what he can do again in the upcoming FIFA Series 2026™.
He has scored two goals and picked up one assist for Melbourne Victory in the A-League Men this season.
Patrick Yazbek
23-year-old midfielder Patrick Yazbek returns to the squad after last featuring in October against USA and Canada.
A hard working, box-to-box midfielder, Yazbek currently plays for Nashville in the MLS and has been a regular starter to begin the new 2026 season.
