The Subway Joeys have secured qualification for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2025™ as Group G winners after a 0-0 draw with Indonesia in the early hours of Monday morning.
After convincing wins against Northern Mariana Islands and Kuwait, Brad Maloney's side faced off against Indonesia - who also boasted a 100% record - at Abdullah Al Khalifa Stadium, in a winner-takes-all match to top Group G.
The Australia Men's U17s Head Coach made two changes to his team that overcame Kuwait 3-1 on Saturday, with Max Anastasio and Christian Pullella coming in for Logan Sambrook and Miles Milliner respectively.
Both sides went into the Group G decider in fine form, with the Australians enjoying a 21+ goal difference and the Indonesians having racked up 11+, but with only five best-placed runners-up from ten groups progressing to the tournament proper, avoiding a slip up here was crucial.
Despite both the Subway Joeys and Indonesia being positive in their approach to the clash, the game ultimately ended goalless, and Australia finished the campaign as Group G winners, with seven points and a superior goal difference.
The Subway Joeys will compete in the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2025™, set to be held from 3-20 April 2025, joining the Subway Young Socceroos who also recently progressed to the AFC U20 Asian Cup China PR 2025™, which will take place in February.
