Subway Socceroos at Home: A-League Men’s 2022/23 Round 22 Preview

The A-League Men's action returns this weekend following the FIFA international break with a host of Subway Socceroos set to feature for their clubs.

Several A-Leagues stars impressed while on international duty against Ecuador.

Check out the preview below!

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Adelaide United

Brandon Borrello and Craig Goodwin face-off for their respective teams on Friday night as third place Wanderers host second ranked Adelaide in a massive clash, which could act as a potential Grand Final preview, given the form of the two sides.

Borrello scored his maiden Socceroos goal in Melbourne on Tuesday, while Goodwin picked up where he left off with the national team, starting and impressing in successive games against La Tri.

Borrello has scored eight goals this season for Western Sydney and Goodwin has 10 goals and nine assists in the league for United.

Meanwhile, Reds goalkeeper, Joe Gauci, also made his Subway Socceroos debut on Tuesday, becoming cap #631 and producing an admirable display with a couple of wonderful saves.

Central Coast Mariners vs Brisbane Roar

Jason Cummings and the Central Coast Mariners entertain Brisbane in Gosford on Saturday afternoon.

The striker is experiencing a prolific campaign with the Mariners, recording 14 goals and did appear off the bench in Melbourne against Ecuador.

Central Coast have been inconsistent over the last few weeks and will be hoping to consolidate their status in the top six.

Sydney FC vs Western United

Andrew Redmayne and Sydney FC tackle Western United on Saturday night, desperate to bounce back from a Sydney Derby hiding a fortnight ago.

The goalkeeper was recently involved in the Subway Socceroos' March camp, providing competition to Maty Ryan and Gauci.

Melbourne City vs Newcastle Jets

Aiden O'Neill, Jordan Bos and Marco Tilio return for Melbourne City fresh off international duty with the former two having made their Subway Socceroos debuts.

O'Neill became Socceroos cap #629, while Bos became cap #632 with the pair rewarded for their club performances.

Mathew Leckie and Jamie Maclaren missed the recent Australia camp due to respective injuries, but Maclaren may be a chance to feature for City this weekend as he continues to manage a broken toe.

City, who will look to maintain its lead at the summit, will quickly have to back-up from Sunday's clash against the Jets with the rescheduled Melbourne Derby occurring on Wednesday.
