Subway Socceroos at Home: A-League Men’s 2022/23 Round 23 Preview

The football continues this Easter long weekend as the race to the finals heats up with four matches remaining in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men's 2022/23 season.

Plenty of Subway Socceroos will be in action, looking to make positive impacts for their respective teams.

Check out the preview below.

Western United vs Central Coast Mariners

Jason Cummings and the Central Coast Stadium travel to Ballarat to face Western United on Good Friday.

The 27-year-old slotted a penalty in last weekend's resounding 4-1 over Brisbane Roar, notching his 15th goal of the campaign.

Adelaide United vs Sydney FC

One of the match ups of the round pits the Reds at home to the Sky Blues also on Good Friday. Craig Goodwin has been in sensational form all season and recorded his 10th assist last weekend, courtesy of a pin-point corner to go with his 10 goals.

He is the third player in A-League Men history to reach double figures in goals and assists in a single campaign and the first since Marco Rojas in 2016/17. The 31-year-old is also two league goals away from 50 in the competition for United.

Equally, at the other end, goalkeeper Joe Gauci, has been terrific for Carl Veart's side and will be hoping to add to his three clean sheets this term.

Adelaide come into the clash unbeaten in its previous 11 matches, triumphant in its last four.

Standing in the Reds' way is Sydney and Andrew Redmayne. The 34-year-old produced some crucial stops last weekend to ultimately keep Steve Corica's men in the game as they went on to rescue a point thanks to a magnificent late equaliser against Western.

Macarthur FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers

Brandon Borrello and the Wanderers will be aiming to keep pace with the top three after slipping to fourth having scored less goals than the Mariners.

Borrello's dynamism and relentless energy has provided a lot of success for his side and he'll be determined to build upon his eight goals in 2022/23 against the Bulls on Saturday night.

Melbourne City vs Wellington Phoenix

Jamie Maclaren, Marco Tilio, Aiden O'Neill and Jordan Bos entertain the Phoenix on Easter Monday, hoping to consolidate its place at the summit of the table.

City have invited the likes of Adelaide back into the title race, though are five points clear after prevailing 2-1 in the rescheduled Melbourne Derby on Wednesday.

O'Neill scored his fourth goal of the campaign in what was his second brace of the year.

Maclaren remains four goals off the all-time A-League scoring record, while Marco Tilio is on pace to have his most prolific season in his career to date, already boasting 5 goals and six assists.

Mathew Leckie is still unavailable with that hamstring injury.
