WATCH: Tony Popovic reacts to CommBank Socceroos' triumph over New Zealand

Tony Popovic spoke at his post-match press conference following the CommBank Socceroos' dramatic 1-0 win against New Zealand in the first leg of the Soccer Ashes at Canberra's GIO Stadium on Friday.

Max Balard, two minutes into his Socceroos debut, scored the match winner after another substitute in Mohamed Toure picked out the midfielder inside the area, who kept his composure and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

The boss shared his thoughts on the contest, admitting he was pleased with some aspects of the match, particularly the improvement in the second half.

Despite extending his unbeaten streak to nine matches since taking charge, Popovic stressed there is still plenty of room for improvement from his side and credited the All Whites, who controlled the game for large portions.
