Paul Okon-Engstler is one of the most exciting young midfield prospects in Australian football.
A product of the Australian youth national team pathway, Okon-Engstler played a key role as the CommBank Young Socceroos won the AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2025™. His performances helped earn him a move to Sydney FC, where he made his breakthrough at senior club level.
The son of 28-time Socceroo Paul Okon, he earned his first CommBank Socceroos cap against Venezuela in 2025 and quickly impressed with his composure, vision and creativity from the base of midfield.
Okon-Engstler made his FIFA World Cup debut as a starter in Australia’s 2-0 victory over Türkiye in 2026 and featured during the Socceroos’ run to the Round of 32. His rapid rise continued after the tournament with a move to Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln.
