Bio
Harry Souttar has established himself as one of the most commanding figures in the CommBank Socceroos defence and is Australia’s tallest-ever outfield international.
Born in Aberdeen and raised in Scotland, Souttar was eligible to represent Australia through his mother, Heather, who was born in Western Australia. He committed his international future to Australia and made his senior debut in 2019, quickly becoming a major presence at both ends of the pitch.
Souttar produced a memorable campaign at the FIFA World Cup 2022™ after recovering from a serious ACL injury, playing a key role as the CommBank Socceroos reached the Round of 16 for just the second time.
His resilience was again tested ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ following an Achilles injury, but Souttar recovered to earn selection for his second World Cup. He went on to captain Australia during the tournament as the Socceroos progressed to the knockout stages in consecutive editions for the first time.
A powerful aerial presence and proven goalscorer from defence, Souttar’s leadership and consistency have made him an important figure in the Socceroos back line.
